Eddie Bennet

Chief Remote Pilot, Chief Flying Instructor

BM, JP, MAIES, CASA accredited RPAS Operator and Training School.  Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.  Certificate IV in Aviation (Aircrew). Certificate III in Aviation (RPAS). Graduate Certificate in Emergency Management and Diplomas in Search and Rescue, Public Safety, Workplace Health and Safety, Security and Risk Management, Government Investigations and Fraud Control.

For over 35 years he has held senior roles in public safety, law enforcement, disaster response, emergency management and lifesaving across government, corporate and volunteer organisations including State Officer Surf Life Saving Queensland Helicopter Rescue Service.

Eddie has delivered presentations on RPAS in Australia, United States, Canada, Japan, China, Malaysia and Italy.

Having completed three decades as a Helicopter Rescue Crew Chief, Chief Examiner, Training Officer and Aircrewman with Westpac Lifesaver Helicopter Rescue and CareFlight Queensland, he is now continuing his passion for aviation rescue through RPAS systems development, implementation, operations and training.

He is now partnered with Yalga Binbi Institute for Community Development Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders Corporation which is an Indigenous Registered Training Organisation delivering RPAS nationally accredited vocational training for both Indigenous and non Indigenous people.

He is the recipient of the International Life Saving Citation of Merit, Australian National Bravery Medal, National Meritorious Service Medal, National Emergency Response Medal, National Police Service Medal, National Sea Safety Award, Police Valour Medal, Police Ethical and Diligent Service Medal, Queensland Flood Citation, Surf Life Saving Leadership Medal and has been recognized as a Queensland Regional Achiever of the Year.

He is a qualified Justice of the Peace and a member of the International Association of Emergency Managers, Australian Institute of Emergency Services, US Vertical Flight Society, NASA’s Transformative Vertical Flight Working Groups one to four and the Australian Association for Unmanned Systems Advanced Air Mobility Working Group.

John Coulombe

Licensed RPAS Operator and Lead Trainer

John is a highly experienced and licensed RPAS operator and trainer. He holds a TAE40116 – Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, Environmental Science Degree (Resource Management) from Southern Cross University), Graduate Research Certificate (RPAS based research for vegetation assessments- CQU) and is a Adjunct Fellow and Lecturer at University of Queensland and has lectured at Central Queensland University.

Originally from Sacramento California, he worked as a fireman and EMT ambulance operator.  John has also been a volunteer firefighter for RFS in Northern NSW.

John believes that when it comes to fire management and emergency/disaster response drones can significantly reduce risk to emergency personnel and believes drones will save lives.

John has worked as a drone trainer and consultant for the last 3 years and has trained dozens of RPAS pilots from Queensland Parks and Wildlife Services, Australian Defence Force, Indigenous Ranger Corporations, Burnett Mary Regional Group, Growcom, MLA and more.

John continues to develop methodologies for using drones for fire management and has written an article on using drone technology for cultural burn management.

He has focused his RPAS training skills on emergency services and will continue to develop innovative methods for using drones for fire management and emergency/disaster response into the future.
